Introduction

Endless praise and thanks be to Allah! And complete and perfect blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! To proceed: When we speak of a "madhhab" (school of thought), we refer to the paths that believing Muslims have followed for centuries, based on the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him), through ijtihad (independent reasoning) that leads to the pleasure of Allah. There is a consensus that one who follows any of the paths agreed upon by the majority of Muslims in matters of creed, jurisprudence, and spiritual development will not face a bad end. In reality, there is only one path. That path is the religion of Islam — Allah’s final and perfect religion, preserved until the Day of Judgment, guiding humanity in all times and places toward happiness in both this world and the Hereafter.
